The Olympics are a special time, not just because we get to see amazing athletes compete in an even that is at the pinnacle of their career, but also because it is a time that the nations put aside differences and join in cheering on their nation's top athletes. This scripture is so perfect right now. The Olympic events give a glimpse of what God's ultimate plan is for us: to live in peace and unity with one another. With all of the turmoil in the world these days it is good to be reminded that God's plan is great and that one day all suffering will be gone!
An important lesson I learned early on in my fitness journey was to refrain from comparing myself to others. We are all beautiful in our own right and we have to learn to love that beauty. Your body is a wonderful piece of art that God is shaping everyday! Don't let the gorgeous model be your enemy. Let her be your inspiration to find your beauty!
Happy Saturday Beauties! <3
This quote is a good reminder for me to keep having big goals but to also be true to who I am. Shoot big while also remembering to staying well balanced and sensible. I like having a few realistic goals that once achieved, I can celebrate, keep me motivated, and give me confidence to push towards even bigger targets. Having a strong and stable foundation is the only way we can keep building upwards.
"Most of the shadows of this life are caused by standing in one's own sunshine" - Ralph Waldo Emerson
I know I need this constant reminder! I tend to get in my own way. Sometimes I can get discouraged if I'm not seeing results, and I can be too hard on myself if I miss a workout or eat too many of Tasha's monster cookies. But that's ok!! What helps me is to step back and realize that I'll reach my goals quicker through encouraging, forgiving, and loving myself. So turn around and embrace the warm sunshine and go easy on yourself :)
Today was hot and humid. My HIIT run was icky. I felt clunky and slow. But I did it. I didn't run the fastest or farthest or longest, but I got out there and completed my task. This single day has added on to months and months of hard work. Not every meal was perfect and my mind wasn't always set right. But I kept working. Slow progress is still progress. Even thought there were periods of drought and it took MILLIONS of years for the Colorado river to cut through the Grand Canyon, look what geological spectacle we have today! Miles of beautiful, deep rock carved away by a river tiny bits at a time. Grain by grain. So take heart in knowing we're on a life long journey together and if you keep working, little by little, we will reach our goals.
Today is the 72nd the anniversary of the landing on Normandy. Today, on D-Day, let's remember and honor the incredible sacrifice that helped liberate so many lives from Hitler's oppressive reign. Did you know that "the landing included over 5,000 ships, 11,000 airplanes, and over 150,000 service men*"?
Thank you veterans for your courage, your strength, your continued sacrifices, and for allowing me to live in freedom and for continuing to fight the good fight. Thank you to the families of veterans who love and support our military men and women unconditionally.

So, I know during my workout today, I am beyond thankful for my able body, my friends and family who served and continue to serve, and this amazing country they protect.
2 Timothy 1:7 - For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Self-discipline is a remarkably important trait in life, particularly given that we are surrounded by temptation at every turn. Living a healthy lifestyle requires self-discipline to choose healthy foods over convenient unhealthy foods. Pushing ourselves to fit in time to exercise takes a measure of self-discipline over our schedules and planning.
The good news is God doesn't expect us to muster up the courage, strength, and discipline to do it on our own. He gives us a spirit of power, love, self-discipline, so take advantage of that! When you are feeling particularly as though you are lacking in discipline ask God to take over for you! He is good!
I know I can get caught up in the hectic-ness of the day and swept away in the flow of always being on the go. But as we continue on this journey of healthy living, let's also remember to be grounded. I find that stillness comes when:
Sometimes even the smallest actions in the present can impact your future.Whether it's making a positive change to your mental or physical tomorrows, no step is too insignificant. If you're struggling taking the first step, check out Tasha's awesome post HERE on ways to bust excuses and get motivated :)
This scripture is particularly apt on Memorial Day weekend as we are remembering those who laid down their lives for our country. Those that have had the privilege AND misfortune to experience such love, know all too well the meaning of sacrifice. For those that have not lost someone with whom they have a personal relationship and who is dear to their heart, it can be difficult to appreciate the somber and sobering tone with which any memorial should be approached.
Regardless of past experiences, anyone can put themselves in a hypothetical situation and ask "Am I willing to lay down my life for ( insert cause/person here )?" Doing so can really open one's eyes to the true impact of this verse.
To be loved SO much by anyone that they are willing to sacrifice themselves that I may live -> that is truly remarkable. But to have a God that loves us so much that He is willing to sacrifice His one and only PERFECT SON to atone for our sins?! That is just utterly breath-taking. Jesus did not run or hide when he was sought out and arrested, but rather stated openly that he was Jesus of Nazareth. This is not to say that Jesus wanted to pay the ultimate sacrifice and he did in fact pray that God would take this cup from him.
Only deep seeded love (whether for country, God, or another person) can compel someone to put their own life on the line for others. What this means is that YOU, my friend, are deeply and passionately loved. <3
